Hair How-To - Colour

Winter Hair Trends | DIY Colour Smudge

by Schwarzkopf AU

We teamed up with BeautyHeaven to show you how you can add a little life to your hair colour, without spending a fortune (or even leaving the house!). This colouring technique is fantastic for covering greys or regrowth while maintaining your existing ombre look.

The Steps

  1. Choose a shade that is close to your natural hair colour (Jess used Brilliance Chocolate Mystery)
  2. Make sure you read the instruction leaflet before you start. It will give you all the info you need on completing a strand and allergy test
  3. Start by brushing your hair, ensuring it is completely knot-free
  4. Cover your shoulders with an old towel to protect your clothes and put on the gloves provided in your colouring kit
  5. Empty the Diamond Gloss serum and Colour Crème into the application bottle and shake vigorously until it forms a smooth cream
  6. Apply about 3 centimetres of colour to the roots of your hair. Using your fingers, you’ll then comb the colour through to your mid-lengths, leaving the ends of your hair colour-free
  7. Pay attention to where you stop the colour on each side of your head, making sure the colour looks symmetrical. Leave the colour to process for up to thirty minutes, checking the colour frequently to make sure you are happy with the depth
  8. Add a little water to emulsify the hair colour, then rinse your hair until the water runs clear and condition with the Brilliance Colour-Shine Conditioner
