How to get Pastel Blue Hair

by Schwarzkopf AU

Time to add another Pin to your ‘oh em gee must try hairspo’ Pinterest board (as if we didn’t have enough already!), because the pastel blue look is everything RN. Scrap your evening plans as we’ve dished the deets on how to add some seriously blissful blue to your ‘do.

For the best blue results, your hair will need to be light blonde so you’ll need to pre-lighten if you’re not naturally blessed with this colour. If you have a lot of yellow/orange tone in your hair, blue shades can sometimes turn more of a green colour so always do a strand test to make sure you’re happy with the results! Temporary Pastel Blue Shades

For a temporary baby blue shade look no further than the LIVE Colour Pastels range (we have two options, Baby Blue & Cool Grey). Lasting up to 8 washes, the LIVE Colour range is a great way to have a quick change up of look for the holidays or a special event. The easy-to-use formula is applied to damp hair process according to instructions.

The results? These can vary depending on your individual hair type and history. Our blogger Emily (above) had highlighted blonde hair. You can see in the after pic how the temporary colour takes differently to the darker shades in her hair i.e it cannot cover them. In this instance, the tones in her blonde hair helped turn the shade slightly more lavender/grey blue.

If you want a completely even colour and you’re not a natural light blonde, you will need to pre-lighten all over.

Watch how to here.  The longer you leave LIVE Pastel shades on, the more intense the result. We recommend a simple strand test before any colour application!

You can also mix up a pastel blue shade using our LIVE Ultra Brights or Pastel Electric Blue. Simply add 2 pea-sizes of Colour Cream to any conditioner and mix in a non-metallic bowl. The colour you mix up will be a good indication of the results you’ll achieve. Apply to damp hair for a couple of minutes and rinse. The same applies again in terms of your starting shade – the blonder you are, the better the results.
